There are many out there who insist that you plot every detail before you write a story, and I’ll admit that plotting to a certain level is not a bad idea. However, some writers find the full-detailed plot as stifling to the creative juices. When writing an early draft, don’t beat yourself up if you deviate from that carefully planned out plot. Sometimes the story just wants to go in another direction, so let it. The moment you try for force yourself to stick to the plot is the moment that your writing becomes a drag and no longer a joy for you or your reader.
